The GE Program is a university-level program that makes
curricular and programmatic recommendations for General
Education. There is one main GE Governance Committee and
three area sub-committees.
The GE Program needs committee members starting Fall 08.
There are two vacanices on the main GE Governance Committee
There are two positions open on the GE Governance Committee.
- (One vacancy) 3-year term - College of Architecture
- (One vacancy) 3-year term - College of Science and Mathematics
Area A/C Committee (Communication, Arts and Humanities)
There are four positions open on the Area A/C Subcommittee.
- (One vacancy) 3-year term within the subject area
- (One vacancy) 2-year term within the subject area
- (One vacancy) 3-year term outside of the subject area
- (One vacancy) 2-year term outside of the subject area
Area B/F Committee (Science/Mathematics/Technology )
There are two positions open on the Area B/F Subcommittee.

- (One vacancy) 3-year term outside of the subject area
Area D Committee (Society and the Individual)
There are three positions open on the Area D Subcommittee.
- (One vacancy) 3-year term within the subject area
- (One vacancy) 3-year term within the subject area
- (One vacancy) 3-year term outside of the subject area

departments/colleges in the subject area

| What the GE Area Sub-Committees
Do |
- Meet approximately 3 times per quarter, except in curriculum
cycle years where meetings can be more frequent
- Advise the GE Committee on policies related to each
GE area
- Review new courses proposed for each GE area
- Develop assessment strategies and programs for GE courses
already in place in each area

the GE Governance Committee Does |
- Meets every other Wednesday from 9 to 10 am
- Recommends approval of courses for GE
- Develops GE programs and policies, and coordinates
assessment of GE courses
- Encourages innovation through linked courses, interdisciplinary
courses, team teaching, and student learning communities
- Addresses issues related to community-college GE programs
- Promotes and coordinates GE-related activities such
as conferences, seminars, and speakers
