Discussion
- Review status of GE Program - currently, it has 5 content areas (A, B, C, D, F), 20 sub-areas, 53 educational objectives and 127 criteria.
- Emphasis on creating GE Program Learning Outcomes before we can take steps beyond
- We should review the GE Focused Learning Outcomes (GEFlos). Can we look at interdisciplinary connections between the disciplines
- Need to build on the foundational outcomes before we can integrate
- Need to consider "GE pathways", should consider a GE minor
- What is the definition of GE Breadth in terms of performance? Students should know why they took the course
- Where should we look in GE? Should we integrate writing in all areas?
- We need to define in terms of "introduce" and "develop" and include benchmarks (numerical score) to set a minimum expectation. Is it a 3 at the introductory level? Is it a 3 at the mastery level?
- Our timeline to create the PLOs is end of winter 2014. We can inspire revision at another time.
