Announcements

• University/GE Assessment - The Critical Thinking Learning Community has met twice and discussed several different definitions of critical thinking. They have also looked at the AAC&U Value rubric on critical thinking. They will continue to meet every two weeks during winter quarter.
• No meeting Thursday, February 14

Business

1. Discussion on the final draft for "Proposing a Course for the General Education Program" (PDF) at Cal Poly. 
   A few edits will be made to the document prior to any distribution.
2. Discussion on the best practices to initiate an update/review of GE course certification
   Suggestion to create an "upload syllabi" option to the current General Education PolyLearn site
   Suggestion to educate faculty on how to propose a GE course, how to utilize General Education PolyLearn site with archived course proposals
   Suggestion to send GE updates to department chairs quarterly or to educate new faculty each year on General Education (possibly an electronic email, new faculty training through CTLT)
   Comments that GE course certification process should be the same as certification process for all course proposals
   Committee had consensus to try and incorporate the General Education course review into Program Review, by setting up some guidelines in the Program Review template.
