- Final revisions on GE course proposals - due 1/23/15 to the Office of the Registrar
- Substantial revisions on some GE proposals, possible appeals on some courses
Business/Discussion
- Review and discussion of Academic Senate Resolution 711-10
Establishment of an Academic Senate Curriculum Appeals Committee (PDF)
Discussion:
- Brenda requested possible attendance from GEGB members at Academic Senate meeting if specific GE courses are appealed. (Clare, Helen, Bruno, Josh)
- Consideration of developing new GEGB course appeals process during GE Program Review
- Reference to GE Memo October 2013 on reduction of GE units/double-counting (PDF)
- New GE courses were proposed in Self Development (D4)
- New GE courses were proposed in Political Economy (D2) - Discussion of online course proposal process/recommendations
- Improve explanation to proposers on addressing GE objectives and criteria
- Improve clarity about lab/activity
- Improve "rollback" function process - Discussion on GE Program Review - What do we want to find out? (Fall 2015)
- Possible recertification of GE courses on the books for over 15 years
- Concerns for keeping class size smaller for writing-intensive courses
